CONVERGENCE @ Signal Festival →

September 12, 2016 by Luke Finch

NONOTAK studio is the collaboration between the illustrator Noemi Schipfer and the architect musician Takami Nakamoto. Commissioned by the Architect Bigoni-Mortemard to create a mural in the lobby of a public housing building in Paris, NONOTAK was created in late 2011.

The simple geometric structure of the audiovisual installation Convergence is formed by LED light rods embedded in the industrial atmosphere of an eight-meter tunnel made from three storage containers. The continuous repetition of the “X” creates the staff of a choreography of light, as twenty-three blue Xes form a minimalist corridor of light that plays with depth perception. This X motif in its representation evoking a variety of associations such as the mathematical symbol for multiplication or the designation of a location on a map.
