September 25, 2024 by Luke Finch

Whether through breaking, shattering, burning, or reconfiguring frames, Andrew brings the subjects in his artwork to life. By breaking the fourth wall and making the frame part of the artwork itself, Andrew continually bends artistic convention in new and surprising ways.

Tempus Timepieces →

March 29, 2017 by Luke Finch

Each piece is primarily a kinetic artwork that doubles as a futuristic clock with out the usual construction methods to represent the time. Tempus uses state of the art digital LED’s that illuminate three different rings of segments in sequence to collectively represent a 12 hour time path. The central ring is the seconds units, once all 60 units illuminate then the first in the minutes ring illuminates. Once all 60 minutes segments illuminate the first hour segment will illuminate and the cycle continues.

Tree in the House →

March 21, 2017 by Luke Finch

Kazakhstan based architect, Aibek Almasov unifies eco-friendliness, modern design, and nature in his 2013 concept ‘Modern Tree House’. The tactful design is purposed to be constructed around a tree lavishing up 4 floors through the center, allowing you to live first-hand with a tree.

With lighting, energy, and water being a priority, the clear structure is made of transparent solar panels connected to a Tesla ‘Powerwal’”, rainwater is collected for use, and wastewater is purified through a natural system. Potentially launching in 2017, this eco-responsible home means one less tree getting cut down throughout the years.

SkyCanvas →

September 12, 2016 by Luke Finch

A Japanese company called ALE Co is bidding to handle the pyrotechnics at the opening ceremony of Japan's 2020 Olympics, and the key to its pitch is that it isn’t just planning on using fireworks like everyone else, it wants to fill the sky with hundreds of colorful shooting stars. If it gets the nod, this display would be visible from far outside Tokyo, up to 100 kilometers (62 miles) away. A meteor of such high apparent brightness would be potentially dangerous, but the company says that’s not a concern with its chemical payload.
