AI Sculpting →

September 27, 2024 by Luke Finch

What happens when AI becomes the creator? How can human creativity and machine-made output feed each other? The human interest in the manipulation of objects for an aesthetic purpose is very antique. By experimenting with different tools and techniques the old masters studied how material can be shaped into form. Transferring this curiosity to the age of technology, in 2020 we engineered a machine-learning process to observe the evolution of an AI learning how to sculpt a 3D model.

Cedar Point Reeds →

September 18, 2024 by Luke Finch

Cedar Point Reeds created by Breakfast is a kinetic sculpture visualizing the wind and wind energy production occurring at the Cedar Point Wind Farm—a 252 megawatt wind farm 80 miles east of Denver. The mechanical Reeds that make up the artwork move based on the real-time wind speed and bearing occurring at the wind farm. The power generation is represented by the illumination of the Reeds.

As we are all part of creating our sustainable future, the sculpture responds as one approaches it. The reeds will gather and illuminate in front of you, representing how we fit into the bigger story of achieving a clean energy future.

Porsche - The Legend of Pedro Rodriguez →

September 11, 2024 by Luke Finch

Racing driver Pedro Rodríguez was one of a kind, a legend in Latin America, and an idol to Porsche fans all over the world. And not only because he was a crazy skilled driver: he made history driving the iconic Porsche 917k, which we can only assume was based on a discarded Batmobile design deemed too unrealistic.

Fifty years after his tragic demise while racing in Germany, Club Camping teamed up with The Community and Porsche to honor some of his feats.

Quantum Fluctuations: Experiments in Flux →

August 26, 2024 by Luke Finch

Quantum Fluctuations shows the complexity and transient nature of the most fundamental aspect of reality, the quantum world, which is impossible to observe directly. In the laboratory, elementary particles are observed by measuring the spoils of a proton collision and comparing the findings with data collected from supercomputer simulations. It is perhaps the most indirect method of observation imaginable, a non-representational form of observation mediated by computer simulations.

Markos R. Kay (neé Christodoulou) is a multidisciplinary artist and director with a focus in art & science and generative art.
